Dan Newlands – Head Golf Professional

NZPGA Golf Professional

Dan first played Golf when he joined a friend and the friend’s father for a spontaneous round of golf at Marton Golf Club NZ aged 11 years. His love of golf was born and led him to spend several hours every week practicing. It took just three years to reach a 1 handicap and to engage in competitive golf. He represented Manawatu/ Wanganui as a junior and as a young adult.

After leaving college for fulltime employment he struggled to find the time to practice. As he missed golf he decided to pursue a career in the golf industry.

As an only child Dan’s mother was his main source of support until he reached his twenties. It was Dan’s mother who suggested he undertake a three-year Traineeship with the NZPGA to become a fully qualified Golf Professional. To fulfil his dream he moved to Taupo and trained under the tutelage of professional James Morgan at the Taupo Golf Club. The NZPGA traineeship enabled Dan to gain knowledge about the game of golf and the golf industry. Four years on Dan became a fully qualified PGA professional in 2016.
