Pro Shop

The board is pleased to announce that we have appointed Renee Fowler to the position of ‘Operations Manager – Golf’. Renee is currently the head professional at Miramar Golf Club and takes up her new role on March 20th. Development of golf across all areas will be her main focus as well as managing the Proshop for the club. The Proshop will be owned by the club and all the operations i.e. carts, range balls, clothing, shoes etc will be added income for the club. The staff, Renee, Dan and Kevin, will become employees of the club. This is an exciting development for the club and the more the members support this new initiative the greater its success and the club’s will be.

Ladies Locker Room Makeover

You may have noticed our Ladies Locker Room is fully carpeted, Toilets/vanity and tapware have also been upgraded. Thanks to Midway Flooring, Patchco Property Services and our volunteers who took time out of their day to help. John Marshall spent afternoons tiling and checking in on the progress. And a huge thank you and acknowledgement to Maggie Rudd and the Tuesday Ladies, The Vet Ladies, the 9 hole Ladies and the Saturday Ladies for your kind donations towards this project.

Remembrance Richard Huntley

It is with great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Richard Huntley, Richard Passed away peacefully on Sunday the 29th of January, Many Members have mentioned him in the last few days and I believe he was a member of the Taupo Club for 30 years or more.

On Par Signage & New Advertising Sponsors

You may have noticed the new signs going up this week on Centennial, and we will continue next week on Tauhara. The signs are being put up by members of the Mens Nine-Hole Group. Let us know what you think of them, we do encourage feedback. An update on our new advertising sponsors, Summerset Village and M21 Meats have come on board with On Par to have a sign on our course. M21 Meats is the number 1 Butchers in Taupo, for delicious meat cuts and devine roasts, head on down to Spa Gate on Spa Road and meet the friendly team down there.

Praise to the Volunteers

It has been mentioned a few times but I doubt enough, the wonderful volunteers that the Taupo Golf Club have. If you do see them around doing bits and pieces, please stop and have a chat and pay thanks. Eddie Hawke has been doing the cobbles by the Centennial Bridge, Ron Forbes is always busy fixing something. They really do go out of their way in their own time to help maintain the Club and its grounds.

Handicap News

The new committee has now been working for a month. Our main concern is the high number of cards nor returned, over 100 with some repeat offenders, and that is just Taupo members, not visitors.

If you take a card out of the system please do something with it at the end of your round. There are notices in the Proshop, the Starters Office and on the notice-boards. Those strange scores in your records are the Penalty Scores we have added for the un-returned cards.

Happy golfing
