13th June 2017 From Dan’s desk

Quote of the week

“Don’t ever give up today because of a bad shot from yesterday”

News from the Proshop:

On the 3rd July, I went out and had a golf game at The Kinloch Club. I had a 79 off the Black tees which believe it or not was playing to a one handicap. The course was immaculate and the greens were very slick and undulating. I rate the course as my second favourite behind Kauri Cliffs in Northland.

From the greenkeepers:

Due to the recent wet weather resulting in slow grass growth the greenkeepers have been out rolling the greens more often and roping off the dew in the mornings. Less cutting has been required. The greens are as looking as good as there ever been. Big ups to the Gordan and his team!

Boys and their new toys:

Bob Burns and Ernie Oxman our greenkeepers extraordinaire have had the new edging machine (thanks to the Veterens) in action. The driveway and other areas around the club have been getting a much needed tidy up. Thanks for keeping our environment looking great guys!

Funding from the groups within the club:

A big thanks to all the playing groups within the club for their kind support of projects for example the bunker repair on the second hole on Centennial, the new kerb edger, mulch for the gardens, defib upgrades     (which is located upstairs in the clubhouse), ladies changing room carpeting and the practice nets which are in the process of being put up currently. Without the support of the groups support these initiatives wouldn’t be possible.

Registration before play:

Please could members visit the proshop and let the Pro Shop team know if you are going onto the course. This is for Health and Safety reasons and to avoid interferences with other players on the course. All course fees are also payable at the proshop.

Office changeover:

The new office is in action! If you need to speak to the office staff they are now situated in the Proshop. A big thanks to all those who have assisted with the work and move. A special thanks to Allan McGrory from Midway Flooring Xtra Taupo. If you need carpet “Allan is your man”.

Club Breakages Insurances:

The New Zealand Golf Insurance Policies have recently changed. Individual members of golf clubs around New Zealand now must either claim for breakages through their personal insurance or alternatively New Zealand Golf does have an insurance program available called GEAP. Click here for further details

Course Care:

Don’t be a TRUMP!!! Just a friendly reminder to keep all carts and motorbikes a minimum of 15 metres away from green and tees wher

e possible. Gordon our head greenkeeper and his team will be very grateful. Click the below link to see a video of Donald Trump’s antics!

Trundler and locker storage facilities

Due to an imbalance in the pricing structure with lockers and trundler

spaces between the mens and ladies locker rooms this will unfortunately

see an increase to $2.89 per week for a locker and 2.41 per week for a trundler space. Which will take effect as of the 1 September.

Member on form – Hole in one

Congratulations to Ernie Oxnam for the below hole in one on the 17th Tauhara, apparently it was a very good shot that back spun into the hole!
