Quote of the Week
“The mind is like a parachute.

It works better when it’s open”.

Greenkeepers

Gordon is on holiday and Jeff is covering his role. The volunteer green keepers aka amazing members have been out in force. What an asset they are to a very busy team keeping the course up to speed. More to come on our fantastic volunteers around our club.

The team are super please with our new multi tine drum roller. Used for aerating the fairways and greens

Café

With the recent frost delays the team at the café have been keeping the members warm with their great coffee and food. Thanks to the team.

Dot Golf

Melita has worked on the loyalty system which is now up and running! Melita and I also visited the Tauranga Golf team to discuss and explore how we can best use the Dot Golf system. The team at the Tauranga Golf Club have frustrations like us due to the time it takes the Pro Shops to administer the score card entering and results, correcting incorrect score cards, score card printing, on line telephone booking etc. The team in Tauranga estimate it takes them 35 hours a week for one course! That was helpful as it is taking a considerable amount of time which can be a frustration both for staff and members.

Booking on line

We are encouraging all members to book on line. This ensures the course flow runs smoothly and also reduces congestion at the Pro Shop especially in the mornings. Some mornings is has been like the Waterloo Railway Station in London. I would like to acknowledge those members who have assisted staff and also those of you who have been patient and good spirited during the long waits! Thank you. Click here for online booking

Pro Shop

Kevin is assisting Ron to ensure the batteries are all sorted in the Cart Shed. We have also moved the Ball Picker’s tools to the cart shed.

The office staff will be moving into the Pro Shop in June. This is essential as we are keen to ensure that potential members have immediate access to the administrators to enable ease of joining. It also means that both the Pro Shop and Administrators can work more seamlessly together with a stronger customer focus.

The reconfiguration of the workshop was essential from a health and safety perspective. The gripping station will be installed in the coming weeks.

Celebrating Noteworthy Results (Extract from Stuff/NZ Herald)

Winning a Bay of Plenty tournament was all in a day's work for young golfer Hanna Kilmister.

The Taupo-nui-a-Tia College golfer travelled to Ohope Golf Club with her five teammates on Monday for the Russ Arniel Memorial Trophy event.

The trophy event was a qualifier for the New Zealand secondary schools golf championships.

Players travelled from colleges in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane.

Three golfers from Tauhara College also attended the event.

Hanna hit a net 59 – the best Stableford score out of the boys and the girls– and was named best female golfer.

The 14-year-old said she'd played golf since a young age.

"My dad's been teaching me since I was little," she said.

"The junior golf club play nine holes every weekend, which I found great to be part of."

Hanna said she practices at Taupo Golf Course.

Her advice to other young players was to "concentrate and take your time".

Tauhara College's Oliver Monkman scored second-equal in the boy’s competition, with a gross 74.

However, the competition uses a countback system, in which officials go back to the last hole where one of the two players had a better score than the other, and the player from Tauranga Boys College snared second place.

The Tauhara College team placed fourth, while the Taupo-nui-a-Tia College team placed seventh.
