Congratulations on your entry into the Taupo Golf Club tournament celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Centennial Course.  You are already a winner by taking part in this memorable event to mark a significant milestone in our history!

JUST SOME TOURNAMENT HOUSE KEEPING:

Please find attached the rules regarding the Calcutta.  This is pretty self explanatory, but don’t hesitate to ask any one of the organising committee or Danny Mills if you have any questions. These sheets will also be available on tables in the clubhouse.

Danny Mills is looking after the Calcutta and tickets for the draw will be on sale at least two weeks prior to the tournament.

Remember that all entries will have five complimentary tickets each for the draw and additional tickets will be sold for $1 each and will contribute to the overall prize pool.  Anyone within the club can participate in the Calcutta.

The draw will take place between 5 and 6 p.m. on the Saturday with the auction starting at 6 p.m. sharp.  Get your syndicates together and settle in for some real excitement before the final, and counting, round.

If you are contemplating participating in the auction, please remember that all transactions will be in CASH, so please bring it with you for settling up at the completion of the auction.

Taupo’s premier auctioneer, Grant Bayley, will conduct the auction which will be entertainment in itself.

$5 drinks will be available for the duration of the tournament.

ACTUAL WEEKEND COMPETITION:

Saturday will be a four ball best ball teams event (best stableford score from the team)

Sunday will be a combined stableford (combined stableford scores of the team)

Overall winners will be the combined team totals from Saturday and Sunday.

There are team prizes for each day scores as well as an individual prizes on Sunday.

The draw will be loaded into Dot Golf one week prior to the event.

Please arrive at the golf course at least 30 minutes prior to your tee time.

Handicaps will be frozen at midnight on the Tuesday preceding the competition.

There will be NO electronic cards.  All cards will be printed for you and need to be swapped and signed by your opposing team within your foursome.  Please get your cards entered BEFORE you put your clubs away to speed up prize giving. 

Prizes will be given for the overall competition and also the Saturday and Sunday rounds.

Any ties will be decided by countback.

CALCUTTA 

Rules and general information.

All proceeds of the Calcutta will be returned to the recipients.

The top sixteen teams from the first round (best ball stableford) will be eligible for the Calcutta.  This round will be used for seeding purposes only.

Each team will be referred to as ‘horses’ for the purposes of the Calcutta.

The actual Calcutta will be decided on the last round of the competition (combined stableford).

Prior to the competition tickets will be sold at $1 each.  These tickets will be entered into the draw which will occur prior to the auction of the ‘horses’. Anyone in the club can participate in the Calcutta.

There will be no limit to the number of tickets sold.  Proceeds from ticket sales will form the base of the prize pool.

The auction will take place after the first round of competition.

Syndicates or individuals who draw a horse will receive half the auction price of that horse. 

Should the syndicate or individual buy their drawn horse at auction, they will be liable for half the auction price of the horse.

It is expected that all monetary transactions should be completed at the end of the auction.  All transactions will be in cash.  Please be prepared and bring cash with you to the auction.

At the completion of the Calcutta the prize pool will decided as follows:

1st  50%

2nd  30%

3rd  20%

 

This will be presented at the overall prize giving at the completion of the tournament (Sunday 27th).
